My Story

Sandy was born to mom, Berry, with 3 other kittens in her litter in the back of a utility truck in Imperial County. They were quickly placed in a foster home and raised in foster from when Sandy was one day old. The two grew especially close as the other 3 kittens were quickly adopted, and finally after many months, Sandy and Berry were adopted together into a home for 15 months. Sandy was returned through no fault of her own - her mom, Berry, developed veterinary issues and the former adopter decided to return both. Sandy has returned to foster as an adult cat with a more mature personality than when she was a kitten! She is quiet, low key, low maintenance, and even a bit shy. We believe she is overwhelmed and confused after living in a home for so long, as adjusting has been hard on her. We hope given more time she will go back to being the playful and cuddly cat that we know she can be. She enjoys being brushed and has super soft velvety fur! She also loves catnip and toys with catnip in them like kicker toys. She enjoys spending her afternoons perched on the cat tree sunbathing in the window, and occasionally chirping at the birds outside. She would probably prefer a quiet(er) home, but has lived with multiple dogs and cats throughout her life. She would be ok as a solo cat or would also be happy to stay with her mom, Berry. An adopter must understand that her whole world has been turned upside down recently and she may take time to warm up and show her true colors. Could that be you?
