Please Meet Rusty. He is the MOST AFFECTIONATE CAT YOU WILL EVER MEET ! He is a talker , a cuddler and will give you headbutts and kisses ! He was abanonded by his owner and found freezing and starving, begging for food in a local neighborhood. He also had a very bad cold. His eyes were almost sealed shut and his top canines had been knocked out ! He was taken to the vet to be checked out and unfortunately tested positive for FIV. FIV is not a death sentence. Many cats live a normal lifespan with this virus. The virus over years can weaken a cats immune system. FIV cats must be kept indoors and fed a higher quality cat food to keep them healthy. No special treatments or medicines are required for this virus. Although, some choose to give vitamins to help boost the immune system. FIV is a CAT ONLY virus and is transmitted via deep bite wounds. Poor Rusty got his butt kicked by another cat outside that was how he became infected. The vet estimates him to be about 2 years old. Because of Rusty's conatgious cold he couldn't be kept in the shelter and I have him in my basement furnace room were he is warm and safe. He has had a round of antibiotics and his cold is gone. He still has a slight eye infection being treated with an ointment I just got from the vet. Rusty is nothing short of a dream kitty...Gentle and full of love and constant purrs..He wouldn't mind another FIV kitty to play with. He has never scratched or bitten and is just a total doll. Please consider giving Rusty the loving forever home he deserves
