My Story

This is my foster baby Quade I’ve had Quade almost a year, when he first came to my home he was very frightened Quade would only do well in a cage where he could burrow under the blankets and hide from the world. Soon curiosity got the better of him and he would come out of hiding to watch the other cats and kittens play. Every time I opened his cage door he would run and hide, if I tried to pet him he would swat. At night I would put kittens in his cage to keep him company, he loved that. Quade would groom and play with his new friends and soon he allowed me to pet him. Soon after I started leaving his cage door open all the time, yet Quade would never take a step out. Cats and kittens would go in and out of his cage to visit and play but he wouldn’t follow them out the door. Soon the day came where Quade had to be separated from the safety his cage. Quade had progressed well and was openly coming to those who would open his cage for love and affection, No more hiding for this boy. I took Quade out of his cage, set him on the floor and closed the door to his sanctuary for good. Quade jumped up, grabbed the cage door and held on to it for almost an hour. Once he let go of the door he quickly adjusted to his new surroundings, my master bedroom. It took a few weeks but soon big boy was sleeping with me at night and rubbing against me for affection. The door to my bedroom has a cat door, Quade watched others come and go but never ventured out. A few months later after Quade was comfortable in his new surroundings I decided to take him out of his comfort zone and into the rest of the house.......... Quade did not like this, Moaning and howling in the middle of the hallway, he would hiss and swat at anyone who came near.......back to the bedroom it was, for a couple of months at least but soon the day came where Quade broke through his fear and left the bedroom. Today Quade is a loving boy who enjoys his playmates and the humans that surround him. Full of affection and love he follows me to bed at night rolling onto his back for belly rubs. Quade loves other cats and kittens and his confidence grows daily. Quade journey isn’t over yet, he is still looking for his forever home. Quade needs a special adopter with the love and compassion to make a long term commitment. Other kitties in the home are a must and patience is needed.
