My Story

** In order to adopt a kitten from HSMC, you must live within an hour of the shelter. You will initially "foster to adopt" the kitten and then the adoption will be finalized when they are brought back for their spay/neuter surgery. You will need to bring the kitten back for vaccines and exams prior to their spay neuter/surgery** Princess Poppy with an estimated birth date of 4-26-24, is an oh-so-soft, furry, gray kitten who is looking to find her perfect loving home in which to grow up. Poppy showed up under a nice lady’s porch one day and was brought to the shelter so we could help her find that special home. When she first arrived, she was very scared, but has since spent time in a foster home where she has relaxed and started to play with other kittens and learned that humans petting her is wonderful. She is still a little timid when meeting new people or kitties but is starting to understand that both people and furry friends can be nice, and fun to play with! Because she is a bit shy, she will probably do better in a home with either no children or at least older children, who realize that gentle voices and hands will make for a happier kitten. Once she tucks her head under your chin and gets her purr motor running her magic will capture your heart forever. And if you have room in your home and in your heart for a playmate for Poppy, please consider adopting a second kitten! Kittens do best in pairs, have less behavioral problems and are happier! No one can play with a kitten as well as another kitten, plus you're saving two lives instead of one! Do you think your home could be Poppy's perfect place? If so, submit your application and we can set up a meet and greet to see if it’s a love match!
