My Story

Peavey is a spayed, microchipped, front declawed, 4-year-old dilute calico cat who was abandoned in a dresser drawer by her previous owners. She is, of course, a little leery of humans, but she is overcoming her shyness and just needs a little time to adjust to new surroundings Everyone comments on Peavey’s golden eyes, which “just seem to never end.” Peavey has become increasingly affectionate with her foster mom, even to the point of being a lap kitty. She loves to have her neck and head scratched. She prefers a quieter and less active home and can get along with some other cats and dogs. (That usually takes a few days, though.) Peavey’s foster mom says she will amusingly surprise you with some feistiness if she doesn’t get what she wants right when she wants it! Sometimes if she doesn’ have her kitty toys, she plays with the roll of toilet paper and leaves “snow” on the floor! To visit with Peavey, please join us at our off-site adoptions at PetCo, 2721 S. Veterans Parkway, Springfield, Ill., on the first and fourth Sundays of each month or the second and third Sundays at Springfield’s PetsMart, 3138 S. Veterans Parkway. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. If that doesn't match your schedule, please call Illinois Humane at (217) 698-3804 to arrange for a visit with Peavey. She is waiting to meet you.
