MEET OSCAR THE CAT!!! Oscar has been a street cat his whole life until he stumbled into his foster moms work truck one day. Full of scabs and looking rough, Oscar purred anyways when he felt the soft touch of a friendly human. Oscar is the most loving kitty and will let you know with lots of purring and meows! He will yell if he feels he hasn't received his daily allotment of attention. He is an excellent biscuit maker and loves to practice on his humans laps. Oscar is friendly with other kitties and doesn't mind dogs. Unfortunately, the start of his life (full of losing fights with other street cats) had undeserved consequences, and Oscar is FHV+ and FIV+. FHV (feline herpes) is contagious only to other cats and only during an episode of sickness. FHV can be managed with upkeep on vaccines as well as a calm, non-stressful environment. Contagion to other cats can be minimized with vaccination of other cats. FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) is contagious only to other cats and only through blood transfer (such as through a fight/being bit). Cats with FHV and/or FIV can live long, happy lives with proper medication management and a calm environment.
