My Story

Oreo is an FIP SURVIVOR! Surrendered by his previous owner at under 1 year old! He was sick, scared, and hurting. He lashed out in fear! His eyesight greatly diminished by this often fatal disease. Oreo is a warrior and he pulled through! He was very scared; he lost a lot of his vision and his owner in such a short period of time and was in a new environment. He continued lashing out but then he realized he was safe, and the medicine started working; He started to FEEL better. He loves gentle, soft head scratches and butt scratches. No CHIN and not for too long. He LOVES other cats. If he gets over stimulated and scared he will seek out the presence of his human companion for comfort. Oreo is a lover but he has his boundaries and sometimes will let you know what they are. He prefers to be next to you with light petting. He comes around more and more everyday. He’s a great cat and has eye damage and possibly brain damage from his FIP per vets assessment. He’s had such a hard start to life being barely 1 year old. Will you be his forever comfort companion? Currently in foster care in Fullerton. Foster-to-adopt is always an available option and recommendation. All Del Gato kitties are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeLv, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption. Thank you! ____________________ Del Gato Rescue is a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue based in Los Angeles, CA. We are a handful of volunteers who work normal jobs by day and rescue cats on nights & weekends. We receive countless daily requests from the community for assistance with cats and kittens found outside in need of rescue. We focus on rescuing friendly cats from the streets, getting them healthy and vetted in foster care, and finding their purrrfect forever home! We prevent hundreds of cats per year from entering our city shelters and being euthanized. We also TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and vaccinate unadoptable/feral street cats, which we believe is the only solution to the root cause of the feline population crisis. When space allows, we also pull death-row cats from local high kill shelters, work with them in foster care, get them up to date on their healthcare, and match them with their new forever family. If you'd like to volunteer with us, fostering is a great way to help our cause, and it allows us space to save more kitties off the streets. If you are unable to foster, we are also always looking for help with transportation to and from vet appointments. Please send us an email at [email protected] to be a part of our rescue community. Thanks for your support!
