Onyx

Meet Onyx! He's a big guy and is often compared to a panther by both visitors and volunteers. Don't be fooled by his size though, he has a gentle little meow that he'll greet you with when you enter the Big Cattery. He likes to be brushed and will sprawl out to show you his belly as you do so too! A favorite of his is sunbathing. Wherever the sun peeks through, he’s there! You can often find him laying on the brick wall in the outside portion of his cattery as he loves to relax in the fresh air. Onyx is FIV+. FIV cannot be spread by sharing food/water, a litterbox, or even through mutual grooming, so it is very unlikely he would pass it to another cat. It is most commonly transmitted through bites, and Onyx does not display any aggressive behavior. He gets along with other cats very well. The majority of FIV+ cats can live happy and healthy lives for many years after a diagnosis too! Stop in to fill out an adoption application and spend as much time as you like with our cats. We do not adopt first come; we always adopt to the best home for our animals. If you rent, bring proof (lease/contract) that you can have a cat. Also bring your Vet's information so we can conduct a vet check (and please let your Vet know we will be making a call). Our adoption fee is $50 for cats. Our animals are fully vetted before being placed for adoption, and spayed/neutered if they are old enough. If they are too young for spay or neuter, we require a $50 deposit that will be refunded upon proof that the pet has been altered.
