Update 2008-08-25: Here are the long-awaited photos of "The Normanator" in his foster home, and his fur has already half grown back! The third photo shows one of his favourite pastimes, which we call "Normanating"... contentedly lying on his back with his paws in the air. Now this is one happy cat! Norman is currently sharing his foster home with his pal Nanaimo and a young Siamese girl, Lily.
Norman is just the sweetest and calmest and most gentle Persian we've seen for a long time. We figure he's 2-3 years old, and has cream fur with hints of sable. He's quite shy and mostly keeps to himself, but just loves it when you go over to him and pay some attention, rewarding you with purrs and stretches and paw-kneading. But if he feels neglected, he won't hesitate to come over to you and express his displeasure in his quiet little voice, then hop up onto your lap for some cuddles and purrs and cheek-rubs.
Although Norman has all his claws, he never uses them. His foster home has several scratching posts for his convenience, but he just prefers to not use his claws at all. A little bonus for anyone concerned about their furniture!
Norman was badly matted from neglect when we got him, so much of his fur has been shaved off and so he's presently not quite as photogenic as his gentle personality would suggest. His tail was untouched, however, and its silky fur glistens in the sunshine. Norman's coat is going to be absolutely gorgeous by the autumn.
He gets along very well with other cats, having shared his foster home with Nanaimo, Minnie and Henna plus three resident cats. Given his quiet and gentle personality, he would prefer a home without small children or dogs. He gets along particularly well with Nanaimo, so if you're up to adopting two cats, this pair would be an obvious choice.
