My Story

Mugsy and Magoo - babies (9 weeks as of Oct. 18) - males - Mugsy is a brown longhaired tiger, and Magoo is a grey long-haired tabby

This intrepid pair of brothers were unceremoniously discarded on a cold October night in rural West Virginia. Frightened, hungry, and terribly thirsty, they drew attention to themselves by alternately hiding in a lilac bush, and making pointed and pitiful appearances at a window.

Once they were discovered, and after a brief and half-hearted effort on the part of Magoo to remain in the bushes, the duo surrendered completely.

They now are safely in care in a foster home, where they eat to their hearts' content, play with one another and their toys, scramble up and down a small kitten gymnasium, and purr constantly.

Mugsy is a brown, long-haired tiger with beautiful, vibrant markings, and curious round eyes that still retain a milky bluish tint, but are turning more amber. He is round and compact, arching his little back as high as his big tummy allows, and settling back on his haunches to wave his front paws wildly like a bear (a rather unconvincing act, as he is always purring instead of roaring.) Mugsy loves to be held and cuddled, and even gives little kisses.

Magoo is a grey long-haired tabby with equally beautiful markings in softer tones of greys. His face draws up in an expression of thoughtful contemplation, and his purring is more like a soothing hum compared to his brother's. He is not quite as brave as Mugsy, although he is a courageous little soul, and was stoic and cooperative when the vet had to remove a large worble from his tiny neck. He plays joyfully and vigorously, and loves the plush comfort of the "cube" in which he sleeps curled up in his brother's arms. He is a round, rather solemn and soulful fellow with a true sweetness, and it seems often, a careful concern for the well-being of his more outgoing and impulsive brother.

Both kittens are in excellent health - they tested negative for any viruses, and have received their first round of vaccines.

Although we rarely make a request of this nature, we would prefer to place these two kittens together if possible. They compliment one another and are extremely devoted brothers.

The adoption fee for kittens is $125 per kitten, and not the $250 adoption fee that we charge for our dogs. The kitten adoption fee includes first, second and third vaccinations, deworming, testing, and their neuter procedures once they have achieved the age of 6 months. Our kind veterinarian threw the worble surgery in for free.
