My Story

Milo is a handsome senior cat who could stand to lose a few pounds. His owner of 11 years brought him and his best pal Lucky to us because they were moving and unable to take their cats. Lucky is in foster care, and he and Milo would love to be reunited in a forever home. Milo is unfortunately obese, and he is anxious and stressed in the shelter environment. Like many older, stressed cats he has not been eating well in his kennel; when overweight cats do not eat they are at very high risk of developing hepatic lipidosis and liver failure. Because Milo is unlikely to relax and begin eating well in the shelter, he urgently needs to leave for a quiet, comfortable home environment where he can decompress and recover. Once he has gotten back on track, he will need gradual, supervised weight loss in order to prevent obesity-related concerns such as diabetes. Even though he's stressed and a bit lonely, Milo is a sweetheart who is a champion purr-machine and head-butter! His owner tells us that he loves Temptations treats (probably a little too much) and is a lower-energy, laid-back cat. He got along well with his cat friend Lucky-available for adoption from his foster home!--and has lived with both children and dogs (due to his weight, Milo is unable to move as quickly as he used to-he should have an easily accessible hiding spot until everyone is acclimated). . Milo and Lucky never thought they'd end up looking for a new family, but now that they are, they want to offer up all the love, purrs and head-butts anyone could want for a chance to spend their long retirement in a comfortable loving home.
