Dec. 28: Hi, Lyndi Loo here, and guess what, I had my eye opawration yesterday! I'm pretty becited cuz I think I'm gonna be able to see a lot better now, which is good since I'm pwactically pawfect in every other way. :) I'm looking pwetty glamorous now cuz I got these long threads coming out of my upper lashes, they look like really cool long eyelashes. When my foster mom isn't looking, I might sneak in and try out her lipstick and blush too, see if I can go for the whole movie star look!
They spayed me yesterday too - whatever that was, it made me feel pretty tired after but I'm feeling great now. The dogtor wants me back in 7 to 10 days to take my stitches out...in the mean-time, I'm gonna work these eyelashes for all they are worth! Please call or e-mail the PALS people so I can finally come home...I've been waiting a long time!
-----------------------------------------------------
Dec. 3: Lyndi Loo has only been with us for a short time, but she has already captured our hearts! Such a sweet, happy, good-natured little girl - she is quiet, playful yet gentle, and so very trusting - probably one of the easiest kittens we have ever fostered. Lyndi is excellent at entertaining herself, but she also enjoys the company of our other cats. She especially loves Athena, who "mothers" Lyndi - they groom each other and play together. The other day I caught Lyndi curled up with our senior Pomeranian, sound asleep in Pheebie's pet bed - another Kodak moment!
A trip to the vet on 11/30 for vaccinations confirmed that Lyndi does need surgery on her upper eyelids to correct the entropian. She has some permanent damage to her eyesight due to scarring. Although Lyndi's vision will never be "normal", she doesn't let it bother her in the least! She runs, jumps and climbs like any other 3-month old kitten; she only has a little difficulty judging distance when getting down from something like a chair - is a bit more cautious, but not afraid.
Due to computer problems, I have been unable to send better photos of Lyndi Loo. That is very frustrating because she is such a cute, little (4 lbs.) Tortoiseshell - her coloring reminds us of Reeces peanut butter cups! We will continue fostering Lyndi until after her eyelid and spay surgeries in approx. 4 weeks; if everything goes well (and we're confident it will), she'll be ready for her forever home shortly after that.
In the meantime, if you think you would like to make this special kitty a part of your family, please contact PALS. Lyndi will bring so much love and joy into your life! Thank you.
----------------------------------------------------------
Oct 6: On further examination, Lyndi Loo's age has been revised - the dogtor now puts her birthday as Aug. 29, a little over 5 weeks.
- Lyndi's eyelids do roll in slightly, but the problem
might be due more to Lyndi's anatomy - she has prominent cheek-
bones, and the eyeballs are "sunken in". The dogtor feels that with
time, as Lyndi grows, the problem may resolve itself. The corneas
appear to be normal, and no sign of infection. Lyndi does have eye
drops to try for awhile (Tobramycin).
- Lyndi weighed a big 1 1/4 lbs! Her temp was normal.
- We will give her a 2nd worming in 1 week; she will need a distemper
booster in 3 weeks.
In the meantime, she is eating and drinking well, and is playful and happy. :)
Lyndi Loo may be adopted for a donation of $50, which includes her spay, shots, and eye surgery. Please see the contact information below to find out more about adopting this sweetie!
