My Story

***EAST COAST*** *** SWEETEST SENIOR - EVER! *** LuLu was surrendered to us at Bengal Rescue, by her elderly owner after she was no longer able to care for her. LuLu loves people!! She’s currently in a foster home with other cats, and while she isn’t necessarily best friends with them - she’s remarkably non-reactive. So long as she has another place to tuck away if the other cats are too much, she’s fine with that. She is such an easygoing lady! If you have cat experience but have never had a Bengal before, LuLu could definitely make a great “starter Bengal” for anyone with an easy-going lifestyle who just wants a loving companion. LuLu is a very quiet cat who upon entering into foster care, completely stopped eating for 9 days due to severe emotional distress. She will require a medically competent adopter should this arise again when transitioning into a new home as she MAY need to be syringe fed, given subcutaneous fluids, and oral medication to help get her over the hump. (We hope not but we always try to be prepared)… Bengals are SUCH a sensitive breed, which is why we wanted to keep her as long as it took to help her recover from the trauma of losing her beloved family. LuLu loves to perch high in cat trees and enjoys being petted by her humans. She’s not necessarily a lap cat but, she will sit next to you for one-on-one attention. She loves sleeping under the covers (we think that is adorable!). LuLu isn’t exactly interested in toys but, at 11-years-old with moderate arthritis, it’s to be expected. Our Veterinarian who saw her at intake did advise that she may benefit greatly from Solensia injections (another option is Cosequin but not as effective). LuLu has excellent litter box habits and will only eat Blue Buffalo Tastefuls sensitive skin and stomach dry food, with the occasional temptations as treats. She does vomit if she is given any other type of food or treat, including wet food (!!!). Sometimes we do see that with cats in rescue - they haven’t had the best diet and can sometimes reject our efforts to get them on a healthier diet. We know that LuLu would do best in a quiet home with limited foot traffic. She does not care for other cats and is very vocal when they are in her space - but - she can co-exist as long as she is given areas to escape to. We wouldn’t recommend a home with dogs for her, unless they are older and cat-experienced.  LuLu is spayed and has excellent litter box skills.
