Lorelei is our current "Best Mom of the Year" award holder.
Being a mother of five while still a kitten herself has made Lorelei the perfect combination of a gentle kitten with adult manners that everybody wants. She is curious about everything you do and will follow you to investigate, but more as a trusty assistant than a kitten who constantly gets between you and your tasks. She is affectionate and playful when you pick her up, but she is happy to lay in the sun for a nap once playtime is over. She will check out every new thing you bring home and play with your shopping bags but without the midnight zoomies of a crazy kitten.
As you go on with your day, you will randomly catch her eyes glazing at you, and you can feel how much she appreciates having a place to relax and enjoy her day, as opposed to constantly watching her back for cars, mating male cats, or predators from where she came.
Lorelei is the girlfriend that will get drunk crying with you over the most random thing ever and then back you in a cat fight over the most random thing ever.... She is just there for you.
Currently in foster care in Garden Grove. Foster-to-adopt is always an available option and recommendation.
All Del Gato kitties are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested for FIV/FeLv, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption.

Del Gato Rescue is a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit cat rescue based in Los Angeles, CA. We are a handful of volunteers who work normal jobs by day and rescue cats on nights & weekends. We receive countless daily requests from the community for assistance with cats and kittens found outside in need of rescue.
We focus on rescuing friendly cats from the streets, getting them healthy and vetted in foster care, and finding their purrrfect forever home! We prevent hundreds of cats per year from entering our city shelters and being euthanized.
We also TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and vaccinate unadoptable/feral street cats, which we believe is the only solution to the root cause of the feline overpopulation crisis.
When space allows, we also pull death-row cats from local high kill shelters, work with them in foster care, get them up to date on their healthcare, and match them with their new forever family.
If you'd like to volunteer with us, fostering is a great way to help our cause, and it allows us space to save more kitties off the streets.
If you are unable to foster, we are also always looking for help with transportation to and from vet appointments.
