My Story

Sweet (and sometimes tart!) Honeydew was frightened of us humans when she and her littermates first came into the shelter, but all it took was a few minutes of cuddling, and they got over their fears, and are now very friendly, playful and affectionate. And she can really hold her own with other kittens, quickly became the “boss” of her litter! Her littermates have all been claimed, but Honeydew is still available. She is a long-haired black female with extra big thumbs on her front paws. She will do well in most households — with people of all ages, with other cats, and with dogs, as long as the dogs are accustomed to cats and not aggressive towards tiny creatures! Honeydew is estimated to be 10 weeks old as of 7/30. She has not yet seen a vet or been tested, as she is still too young to receive a rabies vaccination or be spayed. For this reason, there is no adoption fee — adopter assumes all medical costs. A state-mandated $75 spay/neuter deposit is required to adopt any kitten, and is fully refundable upon proof of spay/neuter. Personal checks are accepted from R.I. residents; all others may pay by credit/debit card or money order, payable to “Town of Scituate.” No cash is accepted. For more information or an application, email [email protected], call the shelter at (401) 647-7200, or visit the shelter during regular hours: Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri 7 to 11 a.m., Sat 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please call before visiting to ensure the shelter is open and she is still available. IF YOU SEND AN EMAIL AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REPLY WITHIN 24 HOURS, PLEASE CALL THE SHELTER! We have been having sporadic problems getting email inquiries through the Petfinder link. If you don’t receive a timely response you should call 401-647-7200 to have your phone number passed along to the volunteer doing application follow-ups. You can also access a downloadable application by clicking this link, or by going to the Town of Scituate’s Animal Control page and scrolling down to the link to the Cat Adoption Form: https://www.scituateri.gov/departments/animal_control/index.php Or copy and paste the following into your browser: https://cms5.revize.com/revize/townofscituate/scituate%20ri%20cat%20adopt%20form%20rev%200922.pdf Please email all PDF applications to [email protected] for faster processing. Priority follow-up is by submitted application, not by inquiry. If interested in adopting, you must complete an application.
