My Story

Loving Licorice! This playful and silly kitten (DOB 2/2024) is searching for a forever home. She loves playing with other cats and would do best in a home with another cat. She is living in a foster home with other cats and has not been exposed to dogs. With proper introductions she could learn to enjoy their company. She is spayed, micro-chipped, tested negative for FeLV, vaccinated, dewormed, and has been treated with Revolution. Her adoption fee is just $100 dollars. To adopt her, or any of our LCPC cats/kittens, email [email protected]. Licorice tested slight positive for FIV. When a mama cat has FIV (or has been FIV vaccinated), she will have FIV antibodies. When she gives birth, there is a high likelihood that she will pass those antibodies to some or all of the kittens. This does not mean that she has transmitted the disease to them—in fact, while maternal antibody transmission is common, transplacental transmission of the actual disease is extremely uncommon. So when you see a positive FIV result in a kitten, it’s generally just a sign that their mama had FIV and passed the antibodies to her kittens. Antibodies can be passed to just one littermate, to multiple, or to the entire litter. These maternal antibodies are present during the first months of life, then dissipate completely. By the time the kittens are 6 months of age, they will typically retest negative. (Source Hannah Shaw aka The Kitten Lady)
