My Story

Sweet Snuggly Joffrey is ready to find a home of his own! **please read before applying- has special medical needs** Joffrey is around a year old and came to us when he was about 4/5 months or so! He was part of a litter of 4 that were tossed outside with their mom - another rescue took two, one was unfortunately never found after being put out, and we took Joff and his mom (who has been adopted!) He can be shy at first but is very clingy & loveable once he warms up! He loves to play, take cozy naps, & will go nuts for a churu! He has warmed up to the many kitty roommates that have come and gone while he’s been in foster and would do fine with other cats. We are unsure about dogs. Shortly after his arrival to us it was noted he kept having what we thought were recurring URIs. He would be come extremely congested and sneezy. We would treat accordingly per our vet but one night it became so bad he ended up at Blue Pearl Emergency Vet. They were able to get him comfortable enough short term while we got him at appointment with the internal medicine specialist at Mount Laurel AH They had recommended a rhino with CT because there was a high possibility he had a polyp that would have been removed while he was under anesthesia. It turned out there wasn’t a polyp or tumor and he was diagnosed with Feline Autoimmune Rhinitis. Essentially his sinuses get inflamed which causes congestion, discomfort, & eye discharge. He was then started on a steroid inhaler which has minimized his symptoms a lot and he’s feeling much better. This is a daily/every other day med for the rest of his life since it’s an autoimmune condition and his life expectancy is the same as a cat without since it is not life threatening just very uncomfortable. He can be sent home with the Aerokat device which shouldn’t need to be replaced for a while (and if it does the cost is about $60 on chewy) but his inhaled meds are about $140-$150 every six weeks or so depending on the pharmacy. It’s very easily administered. If you’re in a position to take on a cat with these needs, he will pay you back with lots of love! https://secondchancesrescueinc.com/applications/cat-adoption-application/
