My Story

Are you looking to make a real rescue and change a cat's life for the better? Then look no more, because Joel is ready to find his human hero! That's right, Joel is ready for the purrrfect hooman to scoop him up and give him all the love, affection, and toys he so greatly deserves! Joel's story didn't start out like most of the fairytale rescue stories go. In fact, Joel's start in life wasn't the best. As an older kitten, Joel was abandoned by his former owners, left on the street with nothing more than a box and a blanket and no means of survival in the wild (let alone the mean streets of NYC)! He survived by the grace of passersby who would feed him and attempt to find an owner, but to no avail, he was stuck as a homeless kitty doing his best to make it on the streets. But alas, it was only a few short days, Joel never once leaving his box, that this sweet boy was quickly rescued. After initial vet intake and proper medical evaluation, Joel went into foster care where he immediately learned what the love of a hooman would feel like! He was nurtured and cared for and quickly blossomed to be a very mild-mannered, low maintenance kitty! After his rough start in life, he truly is easy to please! It's the simpler things in life that Joel appreciates most. He gets along with all of the other kitties in foster care, but often opts for some solitude, preferring alone time by himself or bonding time with his hooman caretakers. Joel is the perfect cat to someone who wants a quiet, easygoing, feline companion by their side to take in the simple things in life, like a good Netflix docuseries or a weekend siesta on the couch! Because of his abandonment by his first owner, we are only accepting serious applicants with the intention of forever ownership. We do feel when his foster leaves the home for longer periods, he gets upset and experiences the trauma of abandonment all over again. So we suggest him for a family, individual or couple that works from home, or a retiree that isn't traveling a ton. Joel is neutered, FIV/FeLV negative, UTD on his vaccines, and approximately 2 years old.
