My Story

Hi, I'm Joe, an old soul who has endured a tougher life than most cats and now wants nothing more than a calm home without other pets to enjoy my golden years. A kind person found me outside, brought me into their home for safety, took me to the vet and did a great job trying to make me feel at home. But the long term resident cat didn't appreciate my presence, so I was surrendered to HAWS to help me find my final loving home. I know I lived with people before but I don't know how long I was outside. With all these recent changes in my life, when you come to meet me you can expect me to be timid (as I am adjusting to the activity at HAWS). When you meet me, you will see I have a few battle scars on my nose and head from my days outside. I hope you see them as badges of courage, perseverance and hope. I'm looking for a special person who can be patient with me because I'll need time to decompress and learn to trust again. If you are that person, please come meet me. When you and I are in a meeting room together, I'll probably squeeze myself between the wall and bench (don't take it personally, it's not because I don't like you). I'll be nervous but when you go slow with me, I will let you scratch my head. Despite my nervousness, you will know I am not aggressive. In time, in your home, I know I will get comfortable with you! Lastly, I need to tell you I was diagnosed with FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV is a condition that affects my immune system and I probably got it when I was living outside. FIV is not contagious to people or other non-feline animals. All I ask for is a loving and quiet home where I can live only inside and receive regular veterinary care to manage my FIV. FIV cats like me live long and fulfilling lives with proper care and attention. I believe I deserve a chance at happiness just like any other cat. If you think so too, please come meet me today at HAWS. Primary Color: Brown Tabby Weight: 13.375lbs Age: 13yrs 6mths 2wks Animal has been Neutered
