WANDERING THE STREETS...
16 YEARS OLD AND BLIND...
UPDATE FROM FOSTER HOME 9/9/07:
Friends & Supporters of Jake (the blind senior pulled from a local Shelter):
Sadly, I must report that our sweet boy Jake passed away a little after 8am this morning (Sunday). I know it is late, but I have been rather devastated all day and dreading writing this letter.
The Vet called me early this morning to tell me that Jake had taken a turn for the worse overnight and she did not think he would pull through. I told her I wanted to be there and was at his side literally 5 minutes later (I only live a couple blocks from the clinic).
When I got there, Jake was lying on a table, surrounded by techs. They had him wrapped up with towels and hot water bottles. He looked very weak. His body just couldn't fight anymore.
He passed peacefully as I petted him and whispered in his ear how much he was loved.
My only solace today is knowing that, because of kind people like you who cared enough to act, this sweet boy was given a chance. Because of you, Jake did not die dirty, afraid and alone on the streets. He passed with dignity, in comfort and surrounded by love.
Sometimes that is all we can ask.
This boy was on death row at the local shelter.
Our volunteers could not leave him there
Note: THANK YOU to GULNAR for your generous donation to sponsor the vet care for this sweet, deserving cat
