Jade and Junebug came to our shelter as part of the aftermath of the flooding in Spencer, Iowa. They were in poor condition, extremely stressed, and seemed determined to lick off all their fur. Obviously, overgrooming is not a great coping mechanism, so they got baths and a calming collars. They had different symptoms, so they each got their own cubby while we tried to get them feeling better. We tried to distract them with catnip toys, but they didn't really relax until they were reunited. These two are not sisters by birth, but they are bonded. They are now together enjoying all the toys and beds in one of our community rooms. They are also regrowing their fur. Junebug was born October of 2023, but arrived at the shelter in June already named Junebug! Jade was born in November. They are spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations.
