HENRY

Remember HENRY? This is the 7 yo who recently lost the only home he ever knew, because his elderly human had to go to assisted living. So many of you cheered for Henry and supported him financially, but we haven't updated in awhile... for a couple of reasons. First, while Henry initially seemed like he would settle in okay, we soon realized that he was actually quite stressed and grieving very deeply. He ended up in a medical crisis that required a couple weeks of aggressive intervention -- $900 hospitalization at the vet and then adjusting to a new foster who (along with several volunteer helpers) syringe fed him every few hours to help him recover his appetite. When Henry stabilized and began to adjust, we were hopeful that his new foster mom would choose to keep him permanently. She was in no way bound to, but it seemed like such a perfect fit that we really hoped. The last few weeks have been very good for Henry, but the foster has determined that he needs a different forever home because her other cat -- whom she is understandably committed to as a first priority -- doesn’t like Henry’s presence. We have witnessed firsthand how a broken heart can adversely affect Henry's health, and so we are desperate to match him with a new person who will provide him a loving, permanent home with no more upheaval. Henry is initially cautious, but is very youthful, playful and sociable once he warms up. He needs a home that is peaceful but has plenty of stimulation with a person who will play with him and give him patient attention on his terms and/or possibly another cat friend or two. He would probably acclimate well to a dog companion, but might not enjoy living with young children. He is a beautiful gray tabby, fully vetted, and his adoption fee is being sponsored. We’re looking for a hero for Henry! Henry is neutered, vaccinated, FELV/FIV negative, and HomeAgain microchipped.
