Helen

Helen is a chatty senior girl who is young at heart! Affectionately referred to as "Little Lady" by her foster parents, Helen is 70% lap kitty, 30% curious explorer. She loves to investigate closets, boxes, tunnels, blanket forts, kitchen cabinets, and most of all, laundry hampers! Her favorite toys are a laser pointer and catnip soft toys. She gets a few "zoomies" every day and will play on her own with a catnip toy when her foster parents aren't available. She is not a shy kitty and will greet anyone that comes into your home! While she loves to greet strangers, she knows her limits when it comes to getting affection from strangers. She will let you know when she's done with a bat of her paw. When in doubt, offer her your hand, if she gives a head boop that means yes to more pets! Once you gain her trust, which doesn't take long, her affection is practically unlimited and comes in the form of head boops, lap time, biscuits, head and neck scratches, and even a small amount of happy drooling! Helen has mild hyperthyroidism, a fairly common condition in older cats. She is on twice daily medication which she takes readily when hidden with food or treats. Helen sometimes gets very excited for meals, she even squeaks with excitement while waiting for her food, which her foster parents find so adorable. She sometimes eats too quickly and regurgitates after eating. So far she has responded well to slower feeding by splitting her meals in half portions. This has also gotten less frequent since starting medication for her hyperthyroid! Helen would do best in a child free home with people who can respect her boundaries until she's fully warmed up to you.
