My Story

Hazel (DSH dilute tortie) and her brother Filbert were found at a local colony when they were 6 months old. They were very sick and weighed only 3 lbs, the vet did not think Filbert would survive. He was bottle fed for several weeks, and these tough cookies made a full recovery. Filbert is 14+ lbs of choonky love, and Hazel is a petite 7 lbs of tortitude. Filbert loves to be held and just hang out wherever you are. Hazel likes to sleep in bed with her people, play with wand toys, and give her version of kitty fist bumps - it will take her a bit to want pets, she loves pets, but she is very timid (but is a fearsome warrior that will slay all the bugs for you). She does not like to be picked up. These two are a bonded pair and must be adopted together, they are approximately 3 years old. OUR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT PROGRAM PROCESS: Not sure if a particular pet will be the perfect match? Our foster-to-adopt program is the way to go! The program is essentially a trial period so we can be sure your selection is a good fit for your home and family. This is especially helpful if you have other pets and children or just need more time to make a final decision. FOSTER-TO-ADOPT PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS The foster-to-adopt program requires a fully approved application. Applicants must be 21 years or older. All applicants must complete an application, undergo a residency and vet verification, plus a virtual interview/home visit prior to application approval. We also require a drivers' license, or other form of ID, for each adult in the household. CAT ADOPTION APPLICATION LINK We process adoptions through ShelterLuv. The first step is to complete an application: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FMCA/Cat If you do not have a specific pet in mind, please list a general description of what you are looking for, i.e. adult female cat or pair of kittens or unknown, etc. under the section titled "Which animals are you interested in? This will allow us to quickly determine if we have what you are looking for readily available or in one of our foster homes still going through the vetting process. You will hear from us in the next few days. Please note, FMCA is an all-volunteer organization and most of our volunteers work full-time, so please be patient. After an applicant is fully approved and an appropriate pet is selected, we will coordinate pet transfer. We will stay in touch to monitor during the two-or three-week trial period. If it's a go, we will finalize the adoption electronically. During the trial period, we are always available to help with items such as getting pets settled in, pet introductions and ways to help shy pets acclimate. If things don't work out, the pet will return to FMCA. Please email us at [email protected] with any questions regarding the adoption process.
