To play or not to play is never a question to Hamlet, who finds it nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of pole toys. Hamlet is a kitten in the form of a young adult about a year and a half old. He was a frightened, hungry, abandoned stray who bore the whips and scorns of time until he was taken in by a kind woman took him in but could not keep him.
One look Hamlet's videos shows that he's an energetic clown. At some point, he evidently lived with someone who presented his hand as a toy, so Hamlet sometimes thinks a hand presented for petting is actually an invitation to play with that hand, so he might opt to wrestle with it instead of being pet by it, so he would probably do best adopted into the home of someone who is experienced enough with cats to understand this behavior. His style of play also means he would not be a good match for adopters who have very young children or plan on having them at some point. Once he gets the playing out of his system, he's likely to curl up in your lap with a warm purr. He should be adopted into an interactive home where he will get lots of play and won't be left unaccompanied for long, and where his Harpo-like antics will be welcome.
He has been:
- neutered
- given rabies and distemper vaccinations
- tested negative for FeLV and FIV
- treated for worms and fleas
His adopter will receive his medical records. There is a simple adoption process and an adoption fee so we can continue to help cats in need. He's being fostered near Northeastern University.
Cats can live up to 20 years, so give careful thought to the changes that are likely to occur in your life during that time.
