My Story

Meet Guido, one very special guy! Guido is a MALE tortoiseshell, a very rare thing in the feline world. Nearly all tortoiseshell cats are female. To read more about this, go to http://www.petconnection.com/articles.phpaction=detail&id=2107. Unfortunately for Guido, he is another victim of being an indoor-outdoor cat He was repeatedly beat up on by neighborhood cats, causing many injuries and ultimately he was infected with FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus). FIV is a slow virus that only affects felines and is transmitted by deep puncture wounds and sometimes through a mother's milk to her kittens. FIV+ cats can live normal lives but they must be indoor cats and be fed a good diet to keep them healthy. FIV+ cats can live with FIV- cats if they are introduced slowly to make sure they are not going to fight. FIV is just one of many dangers that outdoor cats face.
