My Story

**$700 in pledges for the rescue that pulls** Gabby has been living outside while her owner cared for her after she appeared in their yard several years ago. They were concerned because they thought she broke her leg which the owner could not afford to fix. Unfortunately, after we offered support to help her keep Gabby, she said she wanted to surrender her, not SNR her, as she could not continue to care for Gabby. She shared that Gabby recently was in an altercation with another animal. She came into ACCT on the 18th of June, and was described as being selective with cats, and lived with both kids under 5 and teenagers as well as other cats, but her owner also noted she lived outside. On intake she was note to be friendly but a little fearful. Her eyes, ears and throat were clean and clear, she had no murmurs, her lungs were clear, and she had moderate firm to hard stool in her colon and her abdomen was tense on palpation. She had a normal gait and normal mentation. She allowed all handling. she was prescribed a diet of wet food only and lactulose. 6/21 was sleeping in her clean litterbox, readily ate wet food when placed in front of her, she was not willing to cross into the other compartment in the cage. She had defecated outside of her box three small firm fecal pellets. Upon exam, the veterinarian felt multiple segments of firmer fecal material appreciated along large colon; non-painful on palpation. Wet food only diet and lactulose was determined to need to be continued. 6/28 Litter box empty - recently cleaned Wet food tray completely empty Monitor sheet shows patient has been defecating normally at least since 6/24 Abdomen: soft, non-painful; small segment of softer feces appreciated Respiratory: sneezed exam multiple times during Nose: mild serous nasal discharge visible from nares Patient has been defecating and eating regularly since last recheck. She appears to be developing at URI at this time. In consideration of currently stability, adoption may be considered.
