My Story

Happy Summer! Kitten Season is in full swing again and we need to make room to get Moms and kittens (and older kitties too!) so we can get them fixed and find them homes! Please consider adopting- especially some of our older residents! Remember you save TWO cats lives and make countless more cats & kittens lives better by adopting! When you adopt one cat, it makes room to save another! Win! Win! The kitties thank you too! This is Frosty! Frosty is a domestic short haired white with black, neutered male, up to date on his shots, around 4 years old and available for adoption to be an indoor ONLY cat from Griffith Animal Control/Treasured Friends Rescue in Northwest Indiana Hello...Everyone tells me I look a little sad. Well, I am a little sad. You can see in my eyes that reflect how people have treated me and that's where you see my sadness Not everyone treated me badly. I was living outside trying to find food when a nice person found me and decided I needed help. I really did need help too! I was taken to a shelter and the people there almost thought I was a grey cat because I was so dirty! I was so hungry too! I didn't trust people then and I was soooo scared! It took me awhile to trust people.First I made other kitty friends at the shelter. My first best friend was Maddox in one of my pictures. We LOVED spending time playing and laying together, but he passed away suddenly. I have made lots of other kitty friends but I'm still sad I lost Maddox. Arden is my current bestie ( see our picture together!) we like to hang out and cuddle.. After awhile at the shelter, I started trusting people more and now I love pets! I'm still sad though because I'm ready for a forever home, but I'm a little afraid...I'm going to need some extra time to adjust to a new home and I'm still shy around new people at first. Everyone wants kittens and cats that are well adjusted and outgoing, but I'm a little shy, I'm afraid all the other kitties are going to get homes before me. I'm worried no one will want me. I've just been sitting here hoping for a person who will understand me. Are you that person? I'm a little older but I still love playing and I can't get enough pets! I would like to sit and enjoy some time in the sun and nice view outside. Most of all I want a person (or family) who will give me lots of attention and let me be by their side forever! I haven't lost all my hope. I can't wait to get another chance! I would love give all my love to someone who loves me too! Please come see me! Come see me at the shelter! I have my own "room" there and we can visit! I would like a house with another gentle older kitty (would require an introduction period) because I do like other kitties. However, NO dogs. Older kids might be okay as long as they are gentle. If you're looking for a sweet and sad boy cat, give Frosty a chance! Make an appointment to meet him! Please call 219-922-1766 and leave a message to set up a meet and greet with Frosty! And be sure to fill out an adoption application that can be found online at TreasuredFriendsRescue.org or follow the link from our profile at Petfinder (scroll down to the bottom of the page) ***************************"*"""""*""" Griffith Animal Control, in partnership with Treasured Friends Animal Rescue believes in giving kitties that others wouldn't normally get a chance at getting a forever home, a chance! Our fosters & volunteers work with shy and/or unsocialized kitties everyday to get them used to being pet and to show them no one will hurt them. However, when they go to a new home, some kitties will require extra time to get used to new surroundings and different people. Please consider giving a kittie who might need a little time to get used to a new home, a chance. This is a serious commitment and it sets the kitties back in their level of trust if they are given up after a few weeks or months. Please, only apply if you are an experienced cat owner and have patience. Thank you!
