Francie (in foster)

Francie I want you to know that I am not just a pretty face. I have a depth of character that qualifies me as a marvelous cat. I came from a crowded shelter to the HSHC on February 14--a Valentine's kitty. I am only 2-years-old and originally weighed 5 pounds, but I now weigh 7 pounds. I am a Calico cat with lovely markings. I am spending time in a loving foster home to get a handle on my 'nervous Nelly' tendencies. My foster says that I've really blossomed! I am very affectionate and love to play, eat, and use my litter pan religiously. When I arrived, I had problems with severe stress. But these days, I feel much more relaxed and am coming out of my shell. I recently learned that I am FeLV positive. Feline leukemia is a virus that suppresses the immune system. It can be spread to other cats through saliva, bite wounds, and sexual behavior. FeLV+ cats should be kept separately from FeLV- cats and should not share water or food bowls. While we can't predict the life expectancy of a FeLV+ cat, in general, they have a shortened life span. The thing is, usually, FeLV+ cats must wait a long time to find an owner. If you offered me a home, you would be a hero in my eyes. I can live a happy life with someone who chooses to love me, and I promise to bring joy and love into your life in return. 5-21-24
