My Story

He isn't an old man, but he sure did need fixin'! And since I am a huge fan of Reservation Dogs, when this wounded warrior landed with us on 2/29/24, I knew I had the perfect name for him! This devilishly handsome 3-1/2 year old literally had the skin ripped from his neck prior to Southside Sandi getting him safely off the streets, either due to a ruptured cat bite abscess that obliterated a HUGE portion of his flesh, or a shearing type of injury that left him bloodied and full of infection. And as if that wasn't enough, our intact male was profoundly anemic, so we both had our work cut out for us during the first month or so/ Now Fixico isn't quite ready to be adopted out yet, as you don't overcome that sort of trauma and it's aftermath without having a bit of PTSD - and some pretty significant trust issues. That being said, I wanted to get the word out about him now, as I have no doubt that over time he will grow to understand that human hands can heal, and there is more to life than selling meat pies on the Crash's rez:) Until then, enjoy some before and after pics (no worries, I edited them!) and know that traditional medicine served him well, though I did resort to some seaweed bandages to expedite healing:)
