My Story

AGE: 9 years DESCRIPTION: DSH - Red Tabby LOCATION: PETS Shelter (114 W Main Street) - Panora, IA MY STORY: Fisher's story starts with us in 2015 when he was found as a stray when he was just a youngster. He was adopted for the first time and lived in his home for 6 years before his family returned him for pooping outside of the litterbox. They made no effort to figure out why after 6 years he starting going outside of the box and their solution was just to return him. Fisher was adopted again and lived in that home for about 2.5 years but recently returned because they were concerned about him laying on the baby and suffocating him. Fisher has not let any of this get to him and is the same sweet wonderful kitty he has always been. He loves to interact with volunteers and shows off his easy going purrsonality. His second owners felt he had become overwhelmed by the young children in the home and stayed hidden most of the time only coming out when the kids were not around. Based on that information, we would recommend a less active home with no children or only older children. Fishy does well with other kitties but seems to prefer they mind their own business and he minds his own business. He much prefers time spent with his humans (and being brushed!) to hanging with other kitties. He sports a bright red tabby coat and clear golden eyes and will respond when you call him Fishy! MORE DETAILS: Inside-only home and must keep claws. The adoption fee for this kitty is $25. Adopt a pair of kitties for $50. Each cat and kitten has been: altered (spayed/neutered), vaccinated (age-appropriate) - rabies and distemper combo, microchipped, tested for FeLV (negative unless previously noted), and treated for fleas, ear mites, and worms. We ask that interested parties fill out a cat adoption questionnaire only if you are seriously considering adopting this sweet kitty. You can get the application by going to our website at "http://www.panorapets.com/adopt" and clicking on the "Cat Adoption Questionnaire" button at the top of the page. Once you have submitted the questionnaire, an adoption coordinator will contact you usually within 24 hours. Please be patient and thank you for your interest in this kitty. P.E.T.S. supports the "Paws Need Claws" Campaign. Cats are rather attached to their claws; please do not de-claw your cats.
