My Story

Friendly, curious, silly FeLV Gonzales clearly adores people! He loves to sit in your lap and get scritches. Sometimes he even kicks his leg when you scratch just the right spot, like a dog! He also gets a euphoric look on his face when you scritch just right, like you have transported him to Nirvana. He's a slightly scruffy-looking guy, which makes him even cuter than he already is. His fabulous little soul patch really completes the look! He came to us with dental issues so we performed dental surgery to fix him up. He's still recovering and on medication, but he takes it like a champ. Because of his missing teeth, he has a permanent tongue blep. Nothing is cuter than a cat whose tongue is hanging out, right? He'll chirp to let you know that he's lonely, or that he's so excited that you're about to bring him some food! Now that he's in foster, he has started to play and seems to really enjoy it. FeLV Gonzales definitely does not like other cats. He's beginning a slow introduction to his foster's dog, and his foster is optimistic that he will eventually decide that the dog is OK. We haven't seen him with kids, but given how affectionate he is with people, he'd probably be fine with them. He would love to find a forever home with someone who will love him just as he is. He has a heart full of love to devote to his person! FeLV Gonzales has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. He can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine! Any questions? We'd love to talk with you about FeLV care. All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team. For further information or to meet FeLV Gonzales, please email [email protected].
