Fantasia

Meet Fantasia! Fantasia is a very sweet, cuddly cat that purrs when you pet her. She is curious and very playful. She does beg for food at night which her foster calls “hungry baby.” She will lick your fingers, nose, and ears, meow at you, lay on you, and try to chew on your fingers, and is generally a cuddle bug! She loves other cats and enjoys spending the most time with her foster dad who is a 9-year-old male cat with no teeth. She is not pair bonded to her sister Tink and would do well with other cats or alone. She has not met dogs or children but is from a multi-cat household, and will do great with other cats. She would be okay with one dog given a slow introduction. She has recently turned one year old, and is looking for her forever home! As a 1-month-old kitten, Fantasia had unfortunately gotten her left front leg caught in a cage door and broke her radius and ulna. She was evaluated as part of the UC Davis Fracture Program for Rescue Animals and due to her super young age and type of fracture, the UC Davis veterinary orthopedic surgeons determined she would do best without surgery. After a month of careful kennel rest, Fantasia's bone healed well and she was back to bouncing around like a normal kitten again! However, at 7 months of age, she began limping due to the way her bones healed, and her leg did not grow completely straight. She had an orthopedic surgery to correct her angular limb deformity in October 2023 and is expected to continue using her leg normally in the future. She may develop arthritis in her left elbow as she becomes a senior cat and might need to go on pain meds when she gets older. The vet did not recommend her having another surgery because they felt like this would make her condition worse, and her limb is now straight and fully healed.
