My Story

When we heard Evie's story, we knew we wanted to help this special girl. This beautiful calico with two different colored eyes has been through a lot. She originally showed up at a rural shelter, where she was spayed and treated for a mangled tail. We were told that Evie was sight impaired and seemed to have some neurological issues, as evidenced by a slight head "bobbing" motion. Despite all her challenges, however, Evie is a blithe spirit who doesn’t know there is anything unusual about her condition. This cheerful girl gets so excited for petting, and she absolutely loves being with human companions, Evie especially loves being told how adorable she is. She is sweet, loving and to see her dance around a room is truly priceless! Since Evie has been at STAF, she has seen the ophthalmologist and the neurologist so we could determine her true health status to share with those who would consider adopting this wonderful kitty. It seems that she has been blind in her left eye from birth, since the optic nerve never developed. She also has retinal degeneration in her right eye, either a congenital condition or something that occurred later. Her slight head "bob" is neurological; the specialist felt this was also a congenital condition this time affecting her brain stem. There is nothing that can be done to fix her vision. What she most needs now is love—to be treasured in her forever home! DOB 2018 Cat adoption information and application can be found at www.staf.org. All cats and kittens have been vet-checked, spayed/neutered, and are up-to-date on vaccinations. Adoption fee includes carrier, scratching pad, starter pack of food and litter, and toy. We prefer kittens be adopted in pairs. We offer free advice anytime about your adopted cat. If, for any reason, it doesn't work out, we will take the cat back, anytime in the future. Potential adopters must be interviewed in person, at the shelter, and live within 150 miles of Cincinnati. We will ask you to return to the shelter for a second visit to be sure of your decision. Sorry, we do not ship our cats or kittens! Please email Jean at [email protected] for more info. on adopting!
