Elana is an absolutely beautiful floof. She is very timid with new situations and people but tends to warm up after a day or two. Once she opens up, she is very playful and loves to cuddle in your lap for pets. She seems to be the calmest of her two sisters, Caroline and Bonnie. She will run up and check out the other cats in her foster home and has been friendly towards them. She has never been around dogs. As a kitten, Elana has tested positive for FIV. Kittens who test positive at this age are often testing positive because of antibodies they receive from their mother. As they age, these antibodies go away. By the time they are 5 to 6 months old, they test negative which means they never had FIV to begin with.
The adoption fee will include the cost of a retest when she is 5 to 6 months of age. Even if she were to remain positive, FIV is not something to be afraid of. FIV+ cats can easily live with FIV negative cats. They live long healthy lives. You can read more about the truth of FIV in this article.
