Ebony is becoming a sweet kitty from what was a difficult beginning to her rescue story. Initially she had a very stubborn (and scared) disposition which has softened so much in a short period of time.
On July 5 a university campus caregiver (member of the campus TNR program) was alerted that there was an injured cat on campus and campus police called Animal Control who were on their way to the scene. When the caregiver arrived, everyone realized the cat was not injured it was little and scared and would not come out of the tree. After some time and conversations with passer byers, we realized the kitten had been in the area for over 24 hours, most of the time spent trying to sleep in the tree. We were able to wave off AC and told them and campus police that we would rescue her and make sure she was safe.
Long story short after about 5 hours of coaxing, playing kitten and momma cat sounds, and probably total exhaustion on behalf of the kitten, she tried to make a run for it worked her way down the tree, and dashed into some bushes. We were waiting for her with a couple traps and some smelly canned food. Eventually she gave in and was caught in a live trap.
She started out very hesitant and a little spicy, but after some time with her foster siblings her beautiful personality is starting to shine. She loves belly rubs and purrs on touch.
This little active sweet Ebony is available for preadoption.
