My Story

Meet Mr. Personality. Brody is a big boy with rugged good looks and high self esteem. He will run up to anyone for pets and if you don't reach down to pet him, he will rise up on his hind legs and bump his head against your hand. He was taken to a local shelter when his "mom" became ill and he did not adjust well at all. He HATES other cats and doesn't like being caged. Imagine losing your home and family and then being caged with dozens of other cats. He became agitated and upset when he heard another cat hissing. When his cage was opened, he charged the first cat he saw. The shelter worker picked up the cat being charged and was bitten badly by Brody. As a result, the shelter decided to euthanize him. They realize that it is cat aggression and that it was probably not the best way to break up a cat fight, but what can you do with a cat like that when you have dozens of cats in cages all around? We decided to see how he would do in a foster home where he wasn't caged and surrounded with unhappy felines. He has behaved perfectly. He is friendly and social with everyone and we haven't observed any aggression. But, we are alsoaren't caging him or housing him with other cats. Sounds reasonable huh? Brody thinks so and he has rewarded us with happy meows and purrs. We think Brody would do great in an adult home without other cats and dogs. Trust me, he has so much personality, you won't need any other pets! He likes to sleep with his person and will follow you around and try to have a conversation with you about whatever you are doing. He'd be a great companion to someone who likes to tinker in the garage or garden and doesn't mind a quiet meowing commentary going on in the background. His former owner reports that he would occasionally "play bite' but that it was never aggressive. His foster home reports nothing but sweet behavior. She has picked him up, carried him around, put him in and out of carriers, looked in his mouth and played with him and at no time has he exhibited anything but pleasure. No bites, no irritable behavior and no indication that he is anything but a great cat. There is no adoption fee for foster homes or adopters over 50 and he comes with free vet care, a cat tree, cat bed, litter box and cat food bowls. You may also choose to foster-to-adopt to see if he will work out in your home. Email [email protected] if you'd like more information.
