When trapped she was super scared and skittish. She took a bit to start to trust her foster mom, but eventually realized that she had a pretty good life now and became friendly and loving, loves to greet you with 'sweet little trills,' enjoys being petted and having her tummy rubbed (for a short time), loves to rub your legs and her absolute favorite greeting is to give you head butts and rub your forehead with her head! Daisy is about 9-1/2-years old as of June 2024. She is a real sweetheart, but will probably never like being picked up. She panics and wants nothing to do with being picked up. A home with no children is best. Daisy gets along great with other cats! In fact, she does well with every cat she has ever met. She needs to start off in a room cage when you first get her. She will feel safer there. Once she starts to bond with you, then let her out in one room only. Once things go well in the one room, you can let her out into your whole house. This process is going to take several months. But once you gain her trust and win her heart, that is the best feeling on the world. She also may never like your friends or your company that comes over. She will hide when they are there. Once she bonds with you, she is wonderful. Very sweet, loving, affectionate. She does not like to be picked up and needs a home with cat experienced kind older children. Getting her to a vet can be a challenge, If she sees the pet taxi, she runs and hides. So I set it next to where she eats with a blanket on it for about a week. Came feeding time and I quickly grabbed her by the scruff and put her in. She is extremely freaked out in there. You will not want to try reach in and get her out. With the traveling in the car, she will be scared to death and may bite you. My vet sedated her when she got there so she could do a full exam, update her shots, check her teeth, ears, etc. This way no one gets hurt and Daisy is under so she is not stressed. After she came home, let her back out into one room and she did good at first. Took a day for her to be comfortable and feeling safe again. So she is a cat really only for a true cat lover, and one very experienced with shy and skittish cats. 6/14/24 UPDATE: Daisy is a quiet sweet girl that mostly does her own thing. She likes to watch out the window or snuggle up somewhere and take a nap. She still does well with all other cats. She does not like to be picked up or held but will let you pet her sometimes. $95 adoption fee. WE ARE A NO-KILL 501-C-3 NON-PROFIT RESCUE. All donations are tax deductible. We do not have a shelter. All pets live in foster homes. We only adopt to indoor homes. If they appear healthy and there are no obvious health concerns, then extensive testing is not done. This is normal procedure for pet rescues and shelters. Waverly Pet Rescue puts a lot of money into medical care for each dog and cat we take in. $200 is the average cost for basic care. This does not include if the animal had an injury, required extra flea / ear mite treatments, or needed extra days at the vet office.
