If you have a soft heart for a 7-year-old kitty who needs some TLC, Cleo may be the one for you.Cleo was adopted from Kitty City as a kitten 7 years ago. In January, she was surrendered as a stray to a local animal control facility. She was terrified and thought to be feral. Once she calmed down several days later, they were able to scan her for a microchip and her story started to unravel. Animal control contacted the owner that the microchip was registered to -- Hello!! We have your cat! Unfortunately, Cleo's owner had recently passed away in January. Her family rehomed her shortly after that to a different family who then surrendered her as a stray to a local animal control facility a couple of weeks later. We don't know why she was surrendered so quickly but we can only assume that Cleo wasn't given the proper time to adjust in the home or the home was not the right home for her.She is very shy and nervous at first, but will come around to petting and affection. The foster mom has been very patient with her and after approximately 3-4 weeks she is a loving, normal cat. She's very playful and loves her fishing toy! She often still seems a bit nervous and would do best with no young children. We're not sure yet how she would be around other pets long-term but she has seen other cats for a short time and has done okay. The foster mom plans to experiment more soon.Cleo needs a quiet home with someone that is patient and will give her a few weeks to adjust. She is a tortie and can be a little feisty at times, but who isn't?! Will you be Cleo's hero?She is available for appointments only at the foster's home, so we encourage you to meet her if she seems like the kitty for you! Cleo was born approximately June 23, 2017, and her adoption fee is $105, or adopt 2, and the 2nd is half off. She is spayed, up-to-date on shots and worming, tested negative for feline leukemia and is microchipped. You can visit our adoptable cats and kittens during weekend business hours at our adoption center, address and times above. During the week, all our kitties live in licensed foster homes, and while most do come to the adoption center each weekend, not every kitty attends every weekend.
