My Story

CJ was found in a yard near the C.J. Brown Reservoir near Springfield. The lady who found him said she already had 3 cats of her own, and one was very territorial. He was in horrible shape when he arrived at Paws Animal Shelter. He was covered in ticks and very skinny. He only weighed two pounds and 13 ounces, and he was an adult. He was definitely the most underweight, malnourished cat we've rescued in years. He was so sweet and gentle that he quickly became a staff favorite. The vet had him on Doxycycline for a couple of weeks to treat potential disease from all the ticks he came in with. Once he finished his antibiotics we kept him in the clinic well past the normal two-week quarantine period because of his poor condition. Within a month he had more than doubled his body weight, and the vet thought it was time to get him in an adult cat room. Since he has been through so much, we decided to put him in the Zen Meow room, our room for adult cats who like a calm environment. He is doing very well in the room, and he has discovered the shelves that one of our volunteers built. He will probably always be petite due to his early malnutrition. He is very sweet and loving and would be a wonderful addition to any calm household dedicated to giving him a forever home.
