My Story

Female, DSH, approx 1 years old Chipie is an energetic, social kitten who has traveled all the way from a shelter in Kuwait to be here for you to adopt! She's like a tiny cat-dog: she loves to be near people, following her current foster mom from room to room, and finding a good watching spot in any room where the humans are. She sleeps nicely in bed on her designated blanket, and she loves to be picked up when she wakes up from a nap or when her humans come home. Chipie loves having her chin and cheeks scratched. Chipie has a lot of "kitten energy" and loves to run around the house, play with her toys independently, or chase a wand toy or laser. Chipie had an injury to her paw and tendon in her right front leg as a baby; it's since considered healed but she does favor her other front leg a bit more and will sometimes hold her right paw up. She walks, runs, and jumps with no problems, though, these days! She is very curious and loves checking out all things related to human activity. She will chit-chat with you when she's playing or wandering around the house with you. Chipie has been a bit grumpy about being around other cats, so with a careful introduction it might work, but she is also doing well as an only cat. She hasn't been introduced to dogs. She hasn't been introduced to kids either, but she has liked any other people who have been around her, so she might be fine with kids. She does like to play a lot and can get a bit nibbly when excited, so older kids might be a better fit than younger ones. ________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-cats.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats. Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Cat specific vetting: Rabies, FVRCP. Cats are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a FELV/FIV negative mother in foster care. Kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. Kittens born in care to a negative mother will not receive a FIV/FeLV test. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles.
