My Story

Cashew was a singleton kitten found by his foster family inside of a car engine. Cashew found a forever home as a kitten and he lived with his first adopter for an entire year. Unfortunately, his first adopter had to leave the country due to personal reasons and Cashew was returned back to his foster family. Cashew is an active young cat that loves to play and spend time with his people. He asks for a lot of love and affection, but doesn't mind being left alone for several hours a day. He can get overstimulated which can lead to him being mouthy- he may nip at your hands and feet but you can redirect this to a toy or wand. Despite his mouthiness, Cashew is a loyal companion that wants to feel loved and cherished. Cashew spent his entire first year as an only cat. His foster family had several cats in the home and since Cashew was never socialized with other cats when he was a kitten he had some issues getting along with his foster siblings. Cashew is a very active cat that likes to wrestle, chase and sometimes bite other cats. He is not good at recognizing when another cat is upset and no longer interested in playtime so this can cause issues in a multi-cat household. Cashew has the potential to get along very well with another very tolerant young cat. He did well with another active foster cat in the home. Cashew was adopted back in March of 2024 but was returned again at the end of April. This time it was because his new adopter brought 2 new older, more docile cats into the home and Cashew was attacking the new cats. Ideally we are hoping to place Cashew into a no other cat household. He did incredibly well with his first adopter, a young woman who doted on him. Our sweet Cashew has so much love to give, but he has been failed twice already. He would do best in a home where his new owner is tolerant of his little quirks (mouthiness and playfulness) and would probably not do well in a home with elderly people or children.
