My Story
Update on Parrot and Captain Jack.
Parrot is a lively and adventurous little girl, she loves to perch on your shoulder (hence the name). She came to Charming emaciated and covered in ticks and fleas. She required medical fostering, but is now litter box trailered and transitioning to dry food famously. This little girl knows no fear and likes to cuddle up to her very large K-9 foster brothers. Parrot is also a caregiver, during the time she and her brother were sick she snuggled, held, and cleaned her brother, when we were certain he would not make it throug
Captain Jack is a loving Momma's boy, he was named Captain Jack because he is a fighter, and he could not have survived without Parrot his loyal sister who never leaves his side. Jack required tube feeding, hourly fluids, and medications. He was lifeless when he came to Charming, but pulled through and is now thriving, he has a special bond with people as he recognizes they saved him. Jack was so small and sick he lived his first 4 days in a sock in his foster mom's shirt, so she could make sure he was alive.
Today, he is litter box trained and transitioning to dry food right along with his sister, but still prefers to be right under your chin purring away and burrowing his little head on your neck.
Both Captain Jack and Parrot will run to see you and want to be close. You will be their jungle gym, best friend, and safe place for years to come. It would be amazing for these two to stay together as they have suffered the worst of life together and made it through.
IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.
Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adopt
All of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.
ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location.
Petfinder lists our pets as "Out of Town" pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transport
We understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.
