My Story

BROWN BEAR's Meet Your Match Feline-alityTM is LEADER OF THE BAND (Green)

I'm a cat who does everything in a big way. I not only like to be in the middle of things - I like to lead the parade. I'm an adventurous cat, but I'll still make plenty of time to show you my affectionate side. I'm the demonstrative type, you might say. Want a cat who's brimming with confidence? That's me.

Interesting Stuff About BROWN BEAR:
There are times when a cat is given a name that leaves you scratching your head! You wonder where the name came from and why it was bestowed on a cat that clearly has no semblance to the name. Then you come across a cat with a name that is ‘dead on’! BROWN BEAR was absolutely given the perfect name. One look at this big boy and a bushy brown bear is what immediately comes to mind. The physical similarity is where it stops because Brown Bear the cat is one of the gentlest cats you will ever meet. Not one strand of fur on his body is ferocious. Maybe it’s his size…. a guy this big doesn’t need to be aggressive because his size demands respect. Other cats simply move aside when he walks by.

The phrase “Big is Beautiful” was clearly designed for a guy like Brown Bear. He is stunning in so many ways. His chocolate brown coloring sets off his iridescent light blue eyes. They are akin to a couple of bright stars against a dark night. Brown Bear is considered a Chocolate Point Siamese mix. According to Wikipedia, “The Chocolate Point Siamese have warm, rich milk-chocolate points. They have pale ivory to creamy white bodies. Chocolate points tend to stay lighter in the body as they age, so they will retain more of the contrast between the point and body color. The nose leather and paw pads of the chocolate point are cinnamon-pink.” Brown Bear is not a true Chocolate Point per Wikipedia’s description primarily because he has only a small amount of white in his fur color. This is why we call him a ‘mix’. However, Wikipedia is ‘spot on’ when describing the fur as milk-chocolate. Brown Bear’s milk-chocolate brown fur is both silky and shiny with fine mixtures of reddish tones. To say he is absolutely gorgeous would be an understatement.

Brown Bear originally came to CAT from the Humane Society. By coming to CAT, the hope is that Brown Bear would have an opportunity to be noticed a bit more. According to the Humane Society, Brown Bear is “a big guy that would love to be a lap cat! He has lived with other cats but mainly enjoys being the only cat in the house. He loves to play with strings and other moving objects.”

Brown Bear is so ready to find his owner. While taking his pictures for Petfinder, he was very determined to let me know in his kitty chatter (he is a great conversationalist!) and with his rolling purrs that all he wants is a place to call home with someone that he can dote on. If you want to be doted on by a big handsome cat then Brown Bear is the one for you.

Brown Bear is waiting to meet you at the Washington Square Petsmart store. Adoption hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 12-4 or by appointment. Come meet all the wonderful adoptable cats and kittens from Cat Adoption Team!
