My Story

UPDATE 7/2/09 Bocephus's leg is not fixable, and at this time he has sufficient use of it that we have made the decision NOT to amputate. It does not cause him pain, or really limit his mobility in anyway. He uses the entire leg - he simply doesn't have all the use of his elbow and his paw hangs limply due to nerve damage. He has made significant progress, and we hope he'll be able to gain more use of his leg. Right now he loves using the limp paw to bat his toys around - what a playful cat. He is recovered enough now to find a home! Please come to the shelter and meet Bocephus. He is now around 5lbs. He is SUCH a fighter, he DESERVES the BEST home.

Little Bocephus - this kitten has been through a lot and he is still purring! Bocephus came to us late one evening in the arms of his rescuers. His front leg is badly broken, and hangs limply from his body, and he had a nasty respiratory infection. We initially thought he looked so bad, he might not make up but we dosed him up on pain meds and anti-biotics and he has made a wonderful recovery! Our vet has requested X-rays before she makes a decision about his leg. She thinks it has been damaged like this for a long time. If we can fix it, we will. If not, we will amputate. These x-rays will be taken next week, and we will keep this updated! Whichever is the case, we are going to save this little man!!

Bocephus weighs 3lbs. We think he is about 3 months old, making his est DOB 4/6/09. He is orange stripe in colour, with a medium length coat. He is a fighter! He gets around great with only the use of his three legs, and is always ready for a cuddle or some petting. He purrs whenever anyone is even in the room! No matter whether we are giving him shots, or pills or medicine in a syringe, he keeps purring! What a loving cat. Animals truly can overcome anything with love! We need funds towards treating Bo, and a very special home for him. His condition should not require a lot of extra care, just lots of love and an indoor only home. Please contact us if you can help us save this special little cat.
