Benji - Tripod, special needs

Email us at [email protected] to meet Benji and to tell us a little about yourself! Benji spend his winter bravely hopping around the streets of a nearby village with just three good legs, for weeks. No local shelters had room to help him. A women we had helped before and who was a savvy trapper (and had trail camera!) was finally able to catch him, saving him from the frigid winter weather. We were lucky to have the Spay-Neuter-Save Network only a half hour away in Rome PA, and Benji's broken leg was amputated, his ear hematoma drained, his teeth cleaned, was neutered, tested, and vaccinated -- all for just $600! He is now all healed up and ready for a home that will make sure he doesn't put on weight (it's hard to ambulate as a tripod if you are chunky!) and who understands he may need additional care as a senior, if arthritis should impact his one back leg. Benji is a true sweetheart. He's quiet and affectionate, and loves to play. He's got those big tomcat cheeks, crumpled ears from past hematomas, and LOVES to have his chin scratched. He is wary of other male cats, as he was pounced by another cat here and probably was bullied a lot on the streets when he was injured, but would be great as a only cat, or in a household with a dog, a kitten or very friendly female or clueless friendly young male. We will do 'foster-to-adopt' with Benji, so you can be certain he's a good fit for your household, and will gladly take him back if he's just not right for you. Benji also will come with TWO set of steps, so he can easily get up on your couch or bed. One bonus with Benji is he doesn't stand on his hind leg to scratch your furniture! He does love cardboard scratchers, however, and we'll send you home with a few of those, too! There is no adoption fee for Benji, however we may want to meet you at YOUR veterinarian, and we would ask that you pay 1/2 the cost of the vet visit. We'll cover the rest! (This would just be a healthy pet visit so you can get your vet's opinion on his condition - Benji is up to date on all of his vaccinations).
