This is handsome, handsome Bailey. These pictures do him zero justice, so you must come meet him in person. I met Bailey Sunday night at the Laporte pound. I read his owner surrender papers (jerks!). Bailey's owners had him neutered and declawed and kept him as a loving pet for 10 solid years. Then, when Bailey started dropping weight, instead of taking him back to the vet- they took him to animal control and said 'something's wrong with him, he won't eat, if someone wants him- let them have him'.
Well, that may as well been the official signal for me because 5 mins later Bailey is in a crate and in my car! Despite his BEAUTIFUL coat and amazing markings- when you picked Bailey up, you could feel he was just a rack of bones. I figured worse case, if it was something terminal- he would be loved for a little while. And have I mentioned this guy is a MAJOR lovebug??? Just kept rubbing up against me non-stop wanting to schmooze, you should hear the purr-box on him.
So, I dropped Bailey off the next morning at my vet to get checked out. And guess what? He had so much tarter on his teeth and growing into his gums that they were ulcerated and it hurt too bad to eat, so Bailey was just slowly starving to death. The GREAT news is that after a deep cleaning to remove it all (no teeth even had to be extracted!!), Bailey is all set! I had all bloodwork done JUST to make sure it didn't cause any other issues and it came back 100% perfect.
Bailey only weighs 6 pounds, 1 ounce and needs to at least double his weight....but he is happy, loving, has many great years ahead of him and can't wait to get back into his very own home! Also, he loves other cats- so no worries there. He is a quite boy and just wants to be near you. Bailey is 10 years old (trapped in the body of a 5 year old!) neutered, declawed, up to date on shots and combo tested (all negative)- he also has fresh clean teeth and perfect bloodwork!
