Axel is a scrappy little guy who was rescued from a feral cat colony in West Baltimore. After spending who knows how long fighting for food and shelter with a dozen other cats living around a vacant house, he was THRILLED to be trapped as part of a trap-neuter-return program and made it very obvious that he had no interest in returning to the streets.
After sleeping like a rock for about three days after rescue, his delightful personality started to emerge... this little guy is the sweetest, most affectionate companion you could ask for! He loves a nice soft cat bed and is definitely enjoying his upgrade in circumstances.
Axel is estimated to be about 3 years old. He is now neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and tested negative for feline leukemia. Unfortunately he did test positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), which is pretty common in free-ranging tomcats. Many FIV+ cats live their whole lives without any complications, but some do develop issues since the virus affects their immune system. Axel's foster mom can explain more about what to expect with a FIV+ cat, just send an email. There's also some good information here: https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departments-centers-and-institutes/cornell-feline-health-center/health-information/feline-health-topics/feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv
Axel gets along well with other cats, and FIV is primarily transmitted when cats have fights where they draw blood, so he can likely live with other cats as long as everyone gets along. It's unknown how he would do with children or dogs. He is a bit on the timid side, so would likely need some time to acclimate to either.
Axel is not part of Walter Rescue, but is being listed here as a courtesy.
