My Story

Arwen is a gorgeous kitten that is 90% fluff, 10% sass. Arwen has incredibly soft fur that you just can't stop petting- plus, she won't allow it anyways. She's the most playful of her siblings and it's clear she has been raised with all boys. This tiny girl can hold her own! Arwen and and her brother Legolas are the best of buds and we're hoping to adopt them together. Like most kittens, she can get a little shy in new situations, but once you give her some snacks and toys, she's back to her usual boisterious, playful self. Once she's tired herself out from playing, she loves to cuddle up with her foster family and snooze in their arms until she gets her next burst of energy! We don't DNA test our kittens, but we think Arwen looks like she could be a Maine coon-type mix. Most cats in the US are made up of a variety of different breeds, and we think Arwen falls into that category as well. Either way, we know she's 100% cute! Arwen is too young to be eligible for a full adoption. However, she is eligible for our Foster-to-Adopt program! Foster-to-Adopt Program Details We are an all-volunteer, foster-based, non-profit organization We don't have a physical location; all cats and kittens live in foster homes until they are formally adopted. Our foster-to-adopt program allows us to match cats and kittens with their forever family before they're eligible for adoption. Eligible cats and kittens are placed in a foster's home with the intention of adoption after required medical care is completed. Foster-to-Adopt foster parents are required to schedule and bring their cats(s) and/or kitten(s) to veterinary appointments at the Animal Medical Center of Richardson as needed. Foster-to-adopters must meet all of the eligibility requirements RHS has for adopters. Cats and kittens eligible for our foster-to-adopt program must pay a $50 non-refundable deposit at time of drop-off that will be deducted from the animal's adoption fee of $125. RHS Adoption Process and Requirements Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations and on a flea/heartworm preventative. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit by an RHS representative. Phone Interview. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will coordinate a virtual home visit. We'll request you send videos/pictures of your home to verify it is safe and welcoming for the cat. Meet and Greet. Once your home visit is complete, we can coordinate a time with you and the foster parent/s to meet the kitty you're interested in. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $125 for cats, and payable by Paypal, Venmo, cash, or check. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets.
