My Story

If you're an amateur botanist or a green-thumbed gardener, you probably already know that an amaryllis is a large, colorful flower. So, it may surprise you to learn that our Amaryllis, a tortie tripod, is known for being sweet but...shy. While such a showy flower could never be described as timid or nervous, the amaryllis also has symbolic significance. During the Victorian era, floral arrangements were used to send coded messages. The amaryllis often stood for determination, hope, and achievement: all words that come to mind when thinking of our little floral feline. Amaryllis came to us after being hit by a car. A wilting flower, she needed love and emergency care. Amaryllis underwent surgery to repair a broken pelvis. Unfortunately, one of her back legs was severely injured and had to be amputated. But an amaryllis isn't a delicate flower, and neither is she-even on three legs, Amaryllis is sturdy. Sturdy in her determination to live a "normal" feline life. Sturdy in her hope to find a forever home. She has recovered well, and although she is still nervous, we know that Amaryllis will soon be a bright pop of color in someone's life. In the language of flowers, the amaryllis can also signify pride, strength, and confidence. We know that one day, these qualities will also be associated with our Amaryllis. In the right environment, and with light and love, she will thrive-can you give Amaryllis a home where she will bloom?
